An Easy Solution with Tricky Implementation
Maintaining the right level of humidity in your home is crucial for both comfort and health. Too much moisture can lead to mold and respiratory issues, including asthma. Keeping moisture in check is particularly important in areas like bathrooms, where humidity tends to be higher.
The Veev humidity control system, one of the key smart device features of the Veev Digital Home, is designed to handle this.
What Is Humidity Control in the Veev Digital Home?
The Veev humidity control system includes exhaust fans with built-in humidity sensors. These sensors continuously monitor and regulate the moisture level in your bathroom. If they detect too much humidity, the fans turn on automatically to clear it out, keeping humidity at the right level.
The system boasts not just sensor-controlled humidity regulation but also a timer function. Homeowners can set the fans to run at specific times for extra control and comfort.
The Technical Side
Z-Wave sensors collect humidity data and send it to the local server through the Hubitat hub, a smart home automated platform integrated into the VeevOs. When the humidity gets too high, the server automatically turns on the fans, which are connected to it via ArtNET DMX controllers, to bring it back to the right level.
The entire control logic, including the algorithms for humidity monitoring, fan activation, and adjustment, is implemented in Java. This popular programming language is well-known for being reliable and versatile when developing software.
Outcomes
Humidity control is a major upgrade for every Veev Digital Home, a result of meticulous work and coordination on both sides of the Atlantic.
