He says, “If I had done that, I would have been…where they have this really vague vision, but they can’t articulate it. And if they can’t explain it to the developer, the developer cannot build. You can’t build what your customer doesn’t even know they want.”

They navigated through these changes by steadily evolving and making strategic adaptations rather than attempting to overhaul their business model completely.

Using the Entrepreneurs Operating System (EOS) for the past five or six years helped them to look at their business through the eyes of their customers. He emphasized the importance of focusing on what customers are really buying from you and how to serve them better. “The two of those have to work beautifully together in order for that business to succeed. And even if they work beautifully together, the business still might fail, because then you might just be producing a product that your customers don’t want anymore.”
