The Challenge
Big scaling plans — limited in-house resources
Frotcom: Driving Fleet Management Worldwide
In 1997, Frotcom, a Portugal-based company, launched their fleet management system. Fast forward to 2025, their platform is used by thousands of commercial fleets across 40+ countries, supported by a global network of certified partners in Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, and Australia.
Expanding the Mobile Horizon
As the company grew, their mobile roadmap expanded. Frotcom needed to improve the Android app, bring web functionality to mobile, and build a new iOS driver app from the ground up.
Obstacles
That’s when they reached out to Temy
Slow hiring process
Frotcom was actively recruiting in-house, but finding the right mobile talent was time-consuming.
Limited mobile capacity
Internal teams were stretched across multiple product tracks, making it harder to move mobile initiatives forward quickly.
Platform expansion in progress
We had to use cloud infrastructure for future scaling, but ensuring safe communication between the cloud, hub, and devices was challenging.

The Solution
Temy brought 10 dedicated experts who turned a prototype into a full-scale system
Frotcom initially set out to expand their dev team through in-house hiring. But after connecting with Temy, they decided to take a different approach — bringing in two external engineers instead: one for Android, and one for .NET. This gave them the expertise they needed much faster: Temy handled pre-vetting, and the engineers were onboarded in just two weeks.

We kicked off the hiring
Temy pre-vetted candidates, who then got interviewed by Frotcom’s HR lead and CTO. The process took two weeks.

The team got fully integrated
Both engineers joined Frotcom’s Scrum team and took part in all key meetings — daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

We scaled down to one engineer
The .NET role was closed, and the collaboration continued with one engineer, Anastasiia, who became a key member of the Frotcom team.

One engineer continues the work
Anastasiia is still fully embedded. She delivers new features, improves the architecture, and helps keep the app scalable and easy to maintain.
Key project outcomes
- iOS Driver AppFrotcom launched a new iOS Driver App with major features like Forms (used by drivers to send updates like fuel logs directly to managers).
- Scalable architectureThe team adopted SwiftUI and MVVM, making the codebase easier to maintain, extend, and build on and speeding up development.
- 70% fewer bugsAfter improving code quality and architecture, user-reported bugs on the Android app dropped significantly between 2023 and 2024.
The Solution
Key milestones so far: Stronger code, faster
delivery, expanded features
When Integration Turns into Innovation
From day one, Temy’s developers seamlessly integrated into Frotcom’s three-week sprint cycles, improving the codebase before building new features. One of them, Anastasiia, quickly stood out as a proactive force. “Anastasiia didn’t just suggest improvements. She often started improving things on her own, like unit tests, alongside her main tasks,” says Renato Ferreira, Frotcom’s CTO.
The work continues, but here are the biggest wins so far.

Code refactored, crash rate cut by 73%
Frotcom began modernizing their Android app by switching from MVM to MVVM architecture for
new features, which Google recommends for its testability and modular structure. At the same
time, they started building a new iOS driver app from scratch, switching to SwiftUI, Apple’s
modern UI framework.
These changes made the apps easier to test, scale, and maintain. Devs are using Bitbucket for
code reviews, while Frotcom’s QA team relies on BrowserStack to test across real devices.
One clear result: crash-free sessions on Android rose from 96.3% in 2023 to 99.4% in 2024, as per
Firebase Crashlytics.
Codebase scaled to ship features faster
After switching to MVVM, the team could easily build on existing functionality without rewriting
large parts of the app.
One example is the Jobs feature for assigning and tracking driver tasks. When it needed an
update two months after launch, the team could expand it 2x faster thanks to the improved
structure.
Web features brought to mobile
Frotcom wanted to bring key features from their web app to mobile for drivers and managers in the field. With our help, they managed to sync company- and driver-specific data across both platforms, while also improving their usability, stability, and the overall experience on the go.
EU compliance met under deadline
In 2023, Frotcom needed to launch a new Electronic Logbooks feature to meet updated legal requirements in Portugal. The law required truck drivers to digitally track work hours and rest periods for inspection.
The team delivered the first Android version in just two months, ahead of the regulatory deadline. They keep improving the feature and are now rolling it out on iOS.
New driver safety and reporting features launched on mobile
So far, Frotcom has launched several mobile features focused on safety, communication, and
real-time reporting, including Cockpit Safety, Offline Mode, and Forms, now also available on iOS.
Some of the latest updates include automatic status changes where drivers are switched from
“Rest” to “Driving” and alerts that notify managers about issues like low tire pressure. With
Forms, drivers can easily submit various updates, such as fuel stops, costs, or receipts, directly
through the app to their manager.
I’m really happy with what we’re able to do with such a small team. They’re highly motivated and skillful people who built a great bond.
The Result
Enhanced Product, Scalable Growth Across 40+ Countries
Frotcom’s team, with support from Temy, didn’t just deliver features. They also improved code quality, modernized their mobile stack, and made the product easier to scale and maintain as the company continues to grow across 40+ countries.
Outdated architecture (MVP, hard to scale)
Modern MVVM architecture speeds up development
Legacy UI approach (Storyboard)
SwiftUI adopted for cleaner, faster UI building on iOS
Hard-to-maintain legacy code slowed development
Code refactored, bugs cut by 70%, and features ship faster
Limited mobile functionality
Multiple new features launched across Android and a new iOS app
